The problem with the modern world

A society growing hyper-individualized

People are increasingly disconnected from one another, across many dimensions. Values like dialogue, collective learning, and reflective exchange keep eroding, even as an interdependent society needs them more than ever.

“Changing the world” without deep understanding

Without a deep understanding of a community, intervention can impose outside values, extract stories, replace local knowledge, or unintentionally weaken existing community structures — instead of an approach grounded in humility, contextual understanding, learning before intervening, and ethical consideration.

Not enough attention to the material foundations of lasting change

Change doesn't only come from a macro level — thinking differently or more deeply — it's also built over time through steady, repeated practices, like how we eat, shop, consume, and care for our bodies.
